On Parenting and Time Management

Today is Day 2 of our new household set-up. When I say new household set-up, I am referring to the absence of a nanny/assistant. My sister who’s been with us since year 2006, my eldest was just 10 months then, decided to go home to take care of my mother and her children. It was not an easy decision but we have to accept it. 

With proper time management, I am pretty sure that we can handle the ups and downs of parenting. I am very happy of having a very supportive and caring husband. He is helping me in household chores and watch over the kids while I am at work. He’s the one who bring and fetch our daughter to and from the school. He is spending few more weeks here before “flying” again for another overseas job. We are still looking for another house help but for the meantime, my in laws are helping us, especially in taking care of our 20-month old son. 

Here’s our schedule during weekdays. I and/or my husband wakes up at 5am. Prepare breakfast. Daughter wakes up at 5:30,eat breakfast at take a bath. I assist her in prepping up for school. She goes to school at 6:45am. While my waiting for my husband to come back from Thea’s school, I bathe the little man Yohan. After that, I take a bath at get ready for work. I usually leave the house at 7:35am and my husband takes over the rest of household chores while I am away. I cook dinner whenever possible. After dinner, homework and tutoring time with Thea. We end our day with a family devotional prayer at 10:30-11:00pm. 

Weekends are meant for “market day” for our 1 week consumption, laundry, performing Church duties and spending quality family time.
