My Baby Yohan Amiel

I’ve been out of the blogging world for more than a month. I was too busy taking care of my little one. I gave birth to a healthy baby boy named Yohan Amiel last November 4, 2010 at 11:15 a.m.

Thank God I was able to surpass all the challenges throughout my second pregnancy. I have been hospitalized for few days when I accidentally fell from the stairs. Yohan was born 3 days later than my expected date. I had to take some medications to avoid complications and deliver my baby through safe and normal delivery.
Let me share some of his photos:

37 weeks and 2 days…

Just a few days or maybe week/s away to finally meet Thea’s baby brother. As my due date becomes nearer, my husband and I are getting more and more excited for his arrival. I am quite afraid because this time, my husband is not here but I believe that God will be at my side on that very special day.
I am still working until now, hoping to finish important reports until Friday. My next hospital visit will be on Saturday, October 16. This coming weekend might by a busy one. I am yet to prepare other things that me and my baby need.

October 4 is World Habitat Day

“Let’s raise our voices and advocate for change to help those around the world who do not have a decent place to live”.

With the continuously growing population, more and more people around the world need a decent place live. This urges the United Nations to declare every First Monday of October as World Habitat Day. This year, Habitat for Humanity will raise awareness of the need for improved housing and highlight Habitat’s priorities: the worldwide connection between human health and housing, and in the U.S., neighborhood revitalization. These themes reflect the United Nation’s chosen theme for 2010 for events in the host city of Shanghai, China and the rest of the world: “Better City, Better Life.”

Through the efforts of Habitat for Humanity to raise awareness and advocate for universal decent shelter, we can dismantle and alter the systems that allow for poverty housing and make an affordable, decent place to live a reality for all.

As an individual, what can we do for World Habitat Day?

Here are three important things that we can contribute to World Habitat Day:

1. Advocate
In addition to building homes in partnership with people in need, Habitat promotes to address the cause of poverty housing. Several advocacy activities include a specific request, such as asking supporters to sign petition, send a letter to an elected official, or join in a rally.

2. Fundraise

This event – World Habitat Day, is a great opportunity to raise funds for Habitat in your area. A fundraiser can help educate the public and generate publicity for non-profit organization like Habitat for Humanity.

3. Educate

Organize a public awareness event for World Habitat Day 2010 that not only highlights the need for affordable and decent housing, but also discuss the need for improved shelter for billions of people worldwide.

So let’s spread the word and help people in need of decent housing!

35 Weeks – The Big Day is Fast Approaching

I am already on the 35th week of pregnancy. On my recent check-up, I was informed that I may gave birth on the second or third week of October. I inquired about the estimated hospital fees so that we could already set a side the amount as early as possible. Baby’s basic needs are also complete. Even if I’ll breastfeed him, I still asked my husband to buy feeding bottles and  the package arrived last Saturday. He also sent 2 pairs of cute baby socks and some other stuffs for me and Thea.
During my visit at Spoiled! maternity and baby store, I’ve seen so many cute and unique things for babies such as  the Babinski reversible crib beddings, leak-proof cloth diapers, fashionable “almost shoe socks” for 0-24 month old babies, among others. I really want to go back to that store before giving birth.

Among the long list of baby names I’ve shared before, I finally came up with Yohan Amiel
    Yohan – is actually based on Johan, a Hebrew name which means gift from God;
Amiel – also a Hebrew name which means people of God.
As the big day’s fast approaching, we are all excited to meet the newest addition to the family. I’m praying for a safe and normal delivery.

Mommy Bloggers Club Members at the SPOILED! Store

I had fun in the first-ever Mommy Bloggers Club event. Thanks Mommy Earth for inviting me to the event! Last Saturday, we went to the Spoiled! Store wherein some of the mommy bloggers’ kids modeled the clothes available in the store. Aside from Motion Wear clothes and shoes, there are lots of unique and exciting finds for mommies and babies alike.
Adee (daughter of Leirs of Mushings and Jed (son of Jennie of Marriage and Beyond)
Sati, Pehpot’s cutipie
Jed and Sati busy playing with their toys.

We’re amazed with the features of the Sleep Sheep. It produces four soothing sounds from mom’s calming heartbeat to the gentle sounds of nature such as ocean waves, spring showers, and whale sound that create a tranquil environment helping children fall asleep easily. Sleep Sheep, though a bit pricey is ideal for home and travel.

Never Let Her Go

So what’s important with this song? Well, the little one likes to play this from my phone’s music player over and over again. I just find it quite unusual since she’s only 4 years old haha.

The first thing she did this morning is to let me unlock my phone and play that song. She’s been doing that for almost a week now. In fact, she memorized few lines already. That’s why this curious mom asked her why she like the song, and then she said “It’s Papa’s favorite, eh!”. It’s not actually her Papa’s favorite, but it is one of the few songs stored in my phone (which is previously my husband’s, we swapped phones before he left for Qatar early this year).
Just in case you’re not familiar with the song, here’s the lyrics:
Never Let Her Go
David Gates
Everybody needs a someone
Waitin’ to be there
when things are
a-lookin’ down
So if you feel a little lonely
Go out, find your one and only
Somewhere out there
Someone will care for you
and then…
Never Let Her Go
Never Let Her Go

You may wonder how you know love
When the moment comes that you’ve
been a-dreamin’ of
Well true love takes
a little longer
Your heart beats a little stronger
You’ll know it’s real
Inside you’ll feel you’re home at
last… then
Never Let Her Go
Never Let Her Go

So if you feel a little lonely

Go out, find your one and only
Open your heart
Give love a start and watch it
grow… and
Never Let Her Go
Never Let Her Go

32 Weeks

Time flies so fast… I’m already at 32 weeks pregnant. I’ve done some preparations for the upcoming D-day. Newborn basics such as baby dresses, pajamas, socks, booties, mittens, receiving blankets, cloth diapers, and the like are almost complete. His crib is also ready. I bought this Graco Pack N Play crib, second-hand but in good condition from a friend who’s moving to Canada soon.

As I am planning to exclusively breastfeed my baby for at least six months, a Breast Pump and some milk storage bottles is a must. I’m planning to buy a manual breast pump.

The Fetal Development Guide says that at week 32, reproductive development continues. The baby is approximately 17 inches long and weighs about 4 pounds. The diameter of the head is almost 4 inches. Under the skin, the fat layer is getting thicker while the baby’s toenails and fingernails are completely developed. In boys, the testicles will be descending from the groin down into his scrotum.
During this time, the baby sleeps most of the day. According to baby2see.com , the uterus is getting to be a small space for the baby to move about, so there is a decrease in baby’s movement. However, my experience is quite different. My baby kicks and moves a lot…

Father-in-Law’s Birthday Celebration

I’ve been busy these past few days due to increased workload brought about the 3-day out-of-town seminar I attended. That’s why this post is quite late already.

My husband’s father celebrated his 80th birthday last August 29. To thank for the wonderful blessings and good health that God has bestowed to my father-in-law, the whole family celebrated his birthday last Saturday. We had a scrumptious lunch buffet in Guilly’s Restaurant in Glorietta 5, Makati.

Here’s are some of our pictures during the party 🙂
